01 Eligibility & Acceptance
By creating an account or playing Orbaris, you confirm that you meet all of the following:
- You were born before January 1, - meaning you are at least 13 years of age
- You have read and agree to these Terms of Service in full
- You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction
Orbaris is rated E for Everyone with respect to game content. The 13+ registration requirement exists solely to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations governing the collection of personal data from minors. If you are under 13, you may not create an account.
1.1 Accuracy of Registration Information
You agree that all information you provide when creating an account, including your date of birth, is true, accurate, and complete. You represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age. Providing false, inaccurate, or misleading information, including a false date of birth, is a breach of these Terms. We may suspend or terminate any account that we reasonably believe has been registered with a falsified age or other inaccurate information. Where an account is created for or by a person under the required age through the provision of false information, responsibility for that registration and its consequences rests with the registered user and, where that user is a minor, with their parent or legal guardian.
If you do not meet these requirements or do not agree to these terms, you may not use Orbaris.
02 The Service
Orbaris is an online multiplayer disc-placement strategy game available at play.orbaris.com, operated by Tier1 Options GL Inc as Tier1 Interactive. The service includes:
- Player account registration and profile management
- Three game modes: Classic (1v1), Elimination (3 to 20 players), and Tag Team (3 to 10 teams). Any mode can be played publicly or as a private game
- Server-run multiplayer: game rules, results, and AI opponents are all computed on our servers, not on any player's device
- Same-device play for two people sharing one screen (Friendly games, which are not recorded)
- Public matchmaking lobbies, and private games opened with a 10-character join code
- AI opponents at five difficulty levels and three play styles
- Global leaderboards, Quality Scores, and competitive rankings
- In-game progression: points, badges, win streaks, and game history
- Trusted device management for persistent sessions (opt-in)
- Pre-written in-game taunt messaging between players during live sessions
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or aspect of the service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any disruption to your access or in-game progress as a result.
03 Accounts
3.1 Registration
Registration requires a valid email address and a password meeting our strength requirements (minimum 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, number, and symbol). A username is auto-generated at registration and may be customised - usernames must be unique across all accounts. Your country is auto-detected from your IP address at registration if you do not select one manually; you may update it at any time from your Profile page.
3.2 Account Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account credentials
- You must not share your login details with any other person
- Notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised access at info@orbaris.com
- Use the "Forgot password?" feature to reset a lost or compromised password at any time
3.3 Trusted Devices
The Remember this device option at login stores a persistent session on your device. This feature is opt-in and unchecked by default. A maximum of 10 trusted devices may be registered per account. You may view and revoke any trusted device at any time from your Profile page.
Do not enable Remember this device on public or shared devices. Anyone with access to that device may be able to access your account.
3.4 One Account Per Person
Each person may hold one registered account. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate rankings, exploit bonuses, or evade account restrictions is prohibited and will result in the termination of all associated accounts without notice.
3.5 Display Name and Tag Team Name Policy
Your display name is the only name other players see: in games, on leaderboards, and in highlight reels. Your username is used to sign in and is not shown to anyone else, and your real name is never shown to other players.
Display names may contain letters, numbers, and underscores. Tag Team names may contain letters, numbers, and spaces. Both must:
- Be unique across all accounts
- Not impersonate any individual, organisation, or trademark
- Not contain offensive, harmful, or misleading content
We reserve the right to require changes to any display name or Tag Team name that violates these requirements, at our sole discretion.
04 Game Modes
Orbaris offers three game modes. All share the same four in a row win condition, and any of them can be opened as a public or a private game.
The board is not a fixed size. It is sized to the number of players at the start of the game, so a larger field gets a larger grid. The smallest board is 11 columns by 7 rows for a 1v1; a 20-player Elimination game starts at 49 by 27. In Elimination and Tag Team, if the board fills while two or more players are still alive, it is cleared and re-sized for the survivors and play continues. That reset is part of the game, not a fault.
One on one. Four in a row takes the grid! Challenge another player with a join code, face an AI opponent, or play someone next to you on the same device. If the board fills with no winner the game is a draw: the prize pool is split evenly between both players and win streaks reset. Same-device games are "Friendly" games, which are not recorded and do not affect stats, points, or rankings.
Battle royale for 3 to 20 players. Join a public lobby by field size, or open a private game with a join code. AI opponents fill any seats still open when the lobby's countdown ends. Players are eliminated as four in a rows are formed, and the last player standing takes the largest share of the prize pool; second and third also earn a share.
3 to 10 teams, up to 20 players. Each human currently partners with one AI teammate; human pairs are planned. Partners share a fate, so eliminating one member takes out the whole team. In a private game the host sets one difficulty level for the AI teammates across the field; play style varies. A team that wins earns a single team share, which goes to its human member. Players must set a Tag Team name in their Profile before joining, and that name becomes permanent once it has earned leaderboard points.
4.0 Public and Private Games
Every mode can be played two ways. A public game places you in a matchmaking lobby with other players looking for the same mode and field size. A private game is opened by one player, who receives a 10-character join code to share; you can also invite people by email (see 4.2). Codes use an alphabet that omits easily-confused characters, so there is no ambiguity between the letter O and the digit zero.
Opening a private game requires a registered account. Joining one with a code does not, so you can play with friends who have not signed up; guest players simply do not accumulate stats or leaderboard standing. Any seats left open when the game starts are filled with AI opponents. Private game results are recorded to player stats exactly as public games are.
4.1 How Games Are Run
Orbaris games are run on our servers. The server holds the board, applies every move, decides every elimination, plays every AI opponent, and determines the result. Your device sends the column you chose and draws what the server sends back; it does not calculate the game. No player's device is ever in charge of a game or of anyone else's result.
This has consequences worth knowing:
- Games always finish. If a player disconnects or quits, the game continues to a real winner. Nothing is handed over, and nothing needs to be, because no player was running it.
- Leaving forfeits your seat, not the game. A player who leaves is eliminated when their turn comes around, and the remaining players play on.
- Results are calculated, not reported. Every finished game is scored by replaying the recorded moves on our servers, so points and placements come from what actually happened rather than from what any device claims happened.
Before a private game starts, the player who opened it can start it early rather than waiting. If that player leaves before the game begins, any other player still in the room can start it; if nobody is left, the room simply closes.
4.2 Invitations & Join Codes
If you host a private game, you may invite players by entering their email addresses. Orbaris delivers the invitation on your behalf from its own sending address. By sending an invitation you agree that:
- You will only invite people you personally know, who would reasonably expect to hear from you
- You will not use invitations to advertise, to distribute anything in bulk, or to contact people who have not given you their address
- You are responsible for the addresses you enter, including entering them correctly
- Choosing to let replies reach you shares your own email address with the person you invited
Invitations are rate limited per host. Using the invitation system to send unsolicited mail is a violation of these terms and may result in immediate suspension of your account and removal of your ability to invite.
Anyone who receives an Orbaris invitation can stop receiving them permanently using the link in the message. That request applies across every Orbaris player, not only the one who invited them, and it is honoured regardless of who tries to invite that address afterwards. See section 2.8 of our Privacy Policy.
05 Free & Premium Access
5.1 Free Tier
Orbaris is free to play with full access to every game mode, every feature, the leaderboards, and competitive ranking. Free accounts are shown third-party advertisements (see 5.4 and Section 8 of our Privacy Policy).
5.2 Premium Access
Premium is not available yet. This section describes how it will work once it launches.
A premium subscription removes all advertising, and premium players receive automatic doubling of the points they earn in a game, with no ad to watch.
We want to be straightforward about what that means. Free players can earn the same doubling by choosing to watch a rewarded advertisement, so the maximum points available from a game are the same either way. What premium buys is that it happens automatically. Rewarded advertisements depend on availability from our advertising providers, which varies by country, so in some places a free player may not always be offered one.
Doubling applies to the points you earn in that game. Streak bonuses, which are earned across a run of games rather than in any single one, are not doubled.
5.3 Registration Bonus
New accounts receive 100 points upon registration. This bonus is awarded once per account only and is not transferable. Registration bonus points awarded in error may be reclaimed.
5.4 Rewarded Advertising
Free accounts see two different kinds of advertising, and they work differently. Whether ads appear at all depends on our settings and on availability in your region, so you may see none.
- Interstitial ads appear at natural breaks between games. These are not optional: they are part of how the free tier is funded. How often they appear depends on your region and on what our advertising providers have available.
- Rewarded ads are entirely optional. You may choose to watch one to double the points you earned in a game. Declining carries no penalty and does not affect gameplay, your result, or other players.
A rewarded advertisement is only offered when you actually earned points in that game. If you finished without scoring, you will not be asked to watch one, because there would be nothing to double.
Rewarded ads depend on availability from our advertising providers and are not offered in every region or at every moment.
Premium subscribers are never shown advertisements of any kind, including interstitials and rewarded ads, and receive the points doubling automatically (see 5.2).
06 In-Game Taunts
Orbaris includes a light in-game messaging system for competitive banter. You choose from a curated set of short pre-written messages, and what you send is shown to every player in the session. There is no way to message one player privately, and no way to address a message to a particular opponent.
- All messages come from a fixed set we write. There is no free-text input, so you cannot type anything of your own
- Every message goes to the whole room. Nothing is private, and nothing is one to one
- Sending requires an account. Guests can see messages and hide them, but cannot send
- Messages are not part of your public profile, but a record of what was sent is kept so that harassment reports can be investigated (see section 2.9 of our Privacy Policy)
- Sending is rate limited
- The feature exists for competitive expression within the spirit of fair play
No targeting does not mean no harassment. Even though a message goes to everyone, when you send it can make perfectly clear who you meant it for. Sending the same message at a particular player over and over, or timing messages to needle one person, is harassment whatever the system technically does, and we treat it as a conduct violation under Section 7. Being on the receiving end of a well-timed taunt after a bad move is part of the game; being singled out repeatedly is not.
You can turn in-game messages off entirely at any time, whether or not you have an account. Registered players can also mute an individual player, which hides that player's messages from you during games and when re-watching replays. Muting affects only what you see: it never notifies the other player and never hides you from anyone.
If another player's use of the feature crosses the line, report it using the in-app report option or contact us at info@orbaris.com. Reports are tied to the specific messages they concern. If you report without an account we will ask for an email address so we can tell you the outcome. We may restrict or remove a player's access to messaging, or take further action under Section 7.
07 Fair Play
7.1 Prohibited Behaviour
The following actions are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination:
| Violation | Examples |
|---|---|
| Automation | Using bots, scripts, or any automated tool to play, move, or interact on your behalf |
| Exploit abuse | Deliberately exploiting bugs, glitches, or technical vulnerabilities for competitive advantage |
| Multi-accounting | Creating or operating more than one account to inflate ratings, points, or rankings |
| Collusion | Coordinating with other players to manipulate leaderboard results or game outcomes |
| Intentional losses | Deliberately losing games to influence another player's ranking |
| Repeat abandonment | Habitually opening or joining games and then leaving them, whether before they start or partway through. Leaving a single game is not a violation; a pattern of it degrades the experience for everyone else waiting to play |
| Timer abuse | Repeatedly letting turn timers expire rather than playing, to stall a game or avoid a result |
| Messaging harassment | Using in-game messages to single out a specific player through repetition or timing, notwithstanding that messages are sent to everyone in the session |
7.2 Quality Score
Every player has a publicly visible Quality Score calculated from their game history, including the types of opponents and the difficulty of AI opponents they have faced. It exists so the strength of a player's record is visible to everyone, rather than raw point totals alone rewarding whoever played the easiest opposition. It is an informational metric, not a punitive one.
7.3 Turn Timers & Forfeiture
Timed game modes enforce a per-move clock. Missing two consecutive turns results in automatic forfeiture of the game. Disconnection and inactivity are treated identically to deliberate forfeiture - your opponent is not penalised. Turn timers are an intentional competitive mechanic, not a technical limitation.
Violations of fair play rules may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination without refund of any premium subscription. We reserve the right to take action against any account at our sole discretion where fair play violations are suspected.
08 Additional Prohibited Conduct
In addition to fair play violations, the following are prohibited when using any part of the Orbaris service:
- Using the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its infrastructure, or other users' accounts
- Transmitting malware, spam, harmful code, or unsolicited communications of any kind
- Scraping, crawling, or data-mining any part of the service without express prior written permission from Tier1 Options GL Inc
- Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the service or its software
- Impersonating Tier1 Options GL Inc, Tier1 Interactive, any employee, or any other player
- Selling, transferring, sublicensing, or otherwise commercialising your account, username, or Tag Team name
09 Intellectual Property
Orbaris and all associated content - including but not limited to game mechanics, artwork, branding, user interface design, AI logic, scoring systems, leaderboard systems, and software - are the exclusive property of Tier1 Options GL Inc.
Orbaris™ and Tier1 Interactive™ are trademarks of Tier1 Options GL Inc. You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. No other rights are granted.
You may not use the name Orbaris or Tier1 Interactive, or any associated logos or branding, in any commercial context without prior written permission from Tier1 Options GL Inc.
10 In-Game Economy
All items, achievements, and standing within Orbaris exist solely within the game environment:
- No real-world value - Points, badges, Quality Scores, Tag Team names, rankings, and all other in-game items have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for real currency, goods, or services
- Non-transferable - In-game items and standings may not be sold, transferred, gifted, or otherwise conveyed to another person or account
- Subject to adjustment - We reserve the right to adjust, reset, or modify any aspect of the in-game economy at any time to correct errors, address exploits, or rebalance competitive play, without liability to any player
- Registration bonuses - Bonus points awarded in error or contrary to these terms may be reclaimed at any time
10.1 Leaderboards & Rankings
Points are earned per game and accumulate to your totals. Within a game, points come from where you finished, from the players you eliminated, and from bonuses for surviving a board reset or being the last human in a field of AI opponents. The prize pool for a game is set at the start from the size and strength of the field, so a harder field is worth more than an easy one.
The pool is shared, not won outright. The winner takes the largest portion and the next finishers take smaller ones. In Tag Team the winning team receives a single team share rather than one each.
Orbaris runs more than one leaderboard:
- All-time standings, from your accumulated points
- Monthly standings, which reset at the start of each month; the standings at month end are preserved as that month's champions
- Quality Score, which reflects the strength of the opposition you have faced rather than how much you have played
- Age group standings, so you compete against players in a similar age range as well as against everyone
There are three age groups: under 25, 25 to 49, and 50 and over. Players who have not given a birth year appear in the under-25 group. When you open the leaderboard you see your own group first, and you can switch to any other group or to the combined standings at any time. Your group is shown as a leaderboard you can view; your birth year and your exact age are never shown to other players.
Rankings are derived from the recorded games behind them, so we can recalculate them. We may correct, recalculate, or reset standings to fix errors, reverse the effects of an exploit, or respond to a fair play violation. Removal from a leaderboard is one of the actions available to us under Section 7.
Guest players and AI opponents do not appear on leaderboards. Games played on a shared device as Friendly games are not recorded and do not count toward any standing.
We expect to expand the leaderboard system after launch, including additional seasonal standings and further recognition tied to monthly results. Any new standing is a presentation of games already recorded, and will not retroactively change what a past game was worth.
11 Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
Real-time multiplayer functionality is dependent on network connectivity and the availability of third-party infrastructure (including Supabase). We are not liable for game interruptions, data loss, or outcomes caused by disconnection, latency, server unavailability, or network issues beyond our control.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tier1 Options GL Inc shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of in-game progress, points, rankings, or badges, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
12 Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the service at any time, with or without notice, for reasons including but not limited to: violations of these terms, suspected fraud or cheating, extended account inactivity, or any other reason at our discretion.
Upon termination, whether by you or by us, your right to access and use the service ends immediately. In-game items, points, and rankings are forfeited upon termination and are not recoverable.
12.1 Deleting Your Own Account
You may delete your account at any time, yourself, from your Profile page. No request, approval, or waiting period is involved. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
On deletion your credentials, profile, and personal details are removed, and you are removed from all leaderboards. Recordings of games you played are retained with your identity removed, because those same recordings are the verified record of results for the other players in them. A minimal deletion record is retained to prevent a closed account being recreated to reclaim one-time bonuses or evade a restriction. Section 14.1 of our Privacy Policy sets out precisely what is removed and what is kept.
Points, badges, rankings, and any premium entitlement are lost on deletion and cannot be restored, including by registering again with the same email address. If you hold a paid subscription, cancel it through the store you purchased it from before deleting your account; deleting the account does not cancel the subscription.
You can also begin at orbaris.com/delete-account, which explains what is removed and what is kept and takes you to the deletion control. If you have forgotten your password, reset it and return. If you cannot sign in and no longer have access to the account's email address, contact us at info@orbaris.com and we will verify the account is yours before deleting it.
13 Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If something goes wrong, tell us first. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or the service is subject to good-faith negotiation between us, and most things are resolved that way. Write to info@orbaris.com and we will engage with you directly.
If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days of being raised, you and Tier1 Options GL Inc submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario, sitting in Toronto. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from bringing a claim in a small claims court of competent jurisdiction, or from seeking urgent injunctive relief where necessary.
If you live somewhere whose consumer protection laws give you rights that cannot be waived by agreement, this clause does not take those rights away from you. You keep them, and you may bring a claim wherever those laws entitle you to. If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing here limits the data protection rights described in our Privacy Policy.
13.1 General Provisions
- Severability. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, that provision is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest of these terms stay in force.
- Entire agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Orbaris, and replace any earlier understanding on the same subject.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision on one occasion, that is not a waiver of it. We can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these terms, or your account, to anyone else. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on notice to you.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a failure to perform caused by something outside its reasonable control, including outages at infrastructure providers, network failures, natural events, or acts of government.
- Notices. We give notice to you by email to the address on your account, or by posting in the service. You give notice to us at info@orbaris.com.
- Survival. Sections 9 (Intellectual Property), 10 (In-Game Economy), 11 (Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability), 13 (Governing Law), and any other provision that by its nature should survive, remain in effect after your account ends.
- Language. These terms are written in English. Where a translated version is provided for convenience and differs from the English version, the English version governs.
- Relationship. These terms do not create a partnership, employment, agency, or joint venture between you and us.
13.2 Copyright Complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe material on Orbaris infringes a copyright you own or represent, write to info@orbaris.com with: enough detail to identify the work you say is infringed; enough detail to locate the material on Orbaris; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law; and a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
We will review complete notices and remove or restrict access to material where appropriate. We may terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.
14 Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email where appropriate and will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. The version in effect at the time you use the service applies to your use.
Continued use of Orbaris after updated terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to a material change, you must stop using the service and may request account deletion.
